Introducing Our 2028 Strategy!

Tutors United’s work is needed now more than ever, with inequalities even more entrenched following the pandemic and recent cost-of-living crisis. The low-income, migrant, and multilingual communities we serve face less education, lower employment, and more isolation. In recognition, we’ve developed a 4-year strategy which will see us enhance our offer, increase our reach, and grow our impact.

To launch this next step of our journey, The Leathersellers Company hosted a celebration on our behalf. The night was highlighted by amazing speeches and stories from so many who make up the Tutors United community:

  • Sharing Tutors United‘s ambitious past, present, and future, our Founder Joel Buchanan, our Chair Laura Wilson, and our CEO Amy Whitelock Gibbs.
  • Serena Cheng KC delivered an incredible keynote speech on the importance of education in local communities and the impact learning can have, not just on a pupil, but on the people around them throughout their lives.
  • It’s our tutors that make Tutors United possible, and there are no better examples of how inspiring and committed our tutors can be than Aisosa Okunhon-Uduebor, Romaisa Aftab, and Tarun Ramphul
  • One of our Classroom Assistants also joined us. Jayden, formerly a pupil on our programme with Metropolitan Thames Valley during his primary school days, is now tackling his A-Levels and has brilliantly taken on the role of Classroom Assistant in his home hub.
  • And, of course, the real superstars of TU – our primary school pupils! Mariam and Iman so bravely and wittily shared the stories they’d recently written as part of our Creative Writing Competition, getting more than a few gasps and laughs from their audience.

A special thank you to The Leathersellers, who so generously hosted the evening and have been such an incredible supporter of Tutors United.

And finally, to all our partners, funders, and friends, our work wouldn’t be possible without your invaluable support – now more than ever. Thank you for all you have done alongside us over these past 12 years and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together during our 2028 Strategy period, as we aim to reach 1,000 pupils a year.
