Tutors United specialise in delivering family learning initiatives, focusing on primary school pupils in partnership with housing associations to maximise the potential of their young residents.
Our programmes have been scaled across multiple cities in a range of social housing estates and developments to produce outstanding education and employment outcomes and opportunities for residents in each of the communities we operate. For nearly a decade at Tutors United, we have worked with large and small housing associations across London, Cambridge, The Midlands, and Northern England to support and deliver brilliant education interventions as part of their targeted community investment and regeneration.
Our flagship Tutoring Young Residents programme is a family learning initiative targeting families with children aged 8-11 in key social housing areas and providing free, small group, after-school tuition in core subjects. We also offer ongoing support and training to parents to enhance their own literacy and numeracy so they can better support their child’s learning at home and operate confidently, effectively, and independently in life and work.
By working closely with parents, pupils, and tutors, our programme strategically produces outcomes on:
- Youth employment
- Volunteering
- Academic attainment
- Adult training
- Community regeneration
- Financial inclusion (by incorporating money management)
Through the medium of an interactive family-based Maths and English tuition programme.
Supporting families
We tutor pupils in Years 4, 5, and 6 to raise their attainment and boost their confidence so they are set up for success when transitioning from primary to secondary school. Each child receives weekly, hour-long tuition for 30-weeks in Maths and English either online or in community centres, making them convenient and accessible for all resident families in the chosen communities. Lessons are never larger than 6 pupils and are led by a brilliant university student employed and trained to deliver our specially devised curriculum, which expert teachers have designed to complement the National Curriculum and get kids excited about learning!
